Light weight design


At HBN, we have a long heritage of lightweight design with composite materials. Our design studies go through an evolutionary development during the early project phase to reach desired product characteristics. One of our skills is to step by step optimize the design for its intended use. Usually the design phase starts with an isotropic topology optimization to minimize local stresses in the early design phase followed by an anisotropic, layer wise stress and strain analysis.

Using lightweight materials is only the first step to build light and economical products. Our deep knowledge and many years of experience enable us to fully utilize the opportunities that composite design offers. Integrating several functions into one component implies smarter and more compact solutions and also fewer parts to assemble.
